Hi, I’m Weathour, a PhD student in Xi’an working on autonomous driving. I also write code, read, and write essays.

My research tends to go something like this: make a big thing of a small question, do a whole lot of work, then sift out a few useful things. Sometimes it takes that whole detour to work out how to ask the original question.

Here I write about engineering and mathematical models, as well as novels, films, games, and social life. How an equation describes reality, why a character answers as they do, how a familiar arrangement shapes people’s choices—each deserves a closer look. Reading, running experiments, and writing often change my initial ideas. I share the parts that gradually become clearer and seem worth discussing.
